Uploading Your Own 360 Videos

            Uploading Video Content to ClassVR

However you create your content, all you need to do is get the pictures or videos onto your computer and drag-and-drop them into ClassCloud on the ClassVR portal. From there, you can send them out to any of the ClassVR headsets, which are enrolled in your organisation.

What file type should I be using for videos?

For our own content, we use MP4 file format, which can then be easily accessed on the ClassVR headsets. These videos need to be 360 videos, often known as equirectangular format. If you have a 360 camera, its software will usually 'stitch' the video into 360 for you.

For optimal performance your videos should be encoded to the specification below:

            Video: H264 (MP4)
            Audio: ACC Stereo
            Bitrate: between 15 – 20 mbps
            Aspect ratio: 3840 x 2160 Stereoscopic

How do I get the content from my 360 camera onto the headsets?

Well, it will just take you a few easy steps.

            1. Plug the camera into your PC via USB and copy the videos. Depending on your camera, you may need to apply some further processing to get the video into 360 mode (if you have a Ricoh Theta camera, see this article: https://support.classvr.com/portal/kb/articles/using-ricoh-theta-cameras-with-classvr
            2. Make sure they are in MP4 format.
            3. Then, import the content into your ClassVR My Cloud or Shared Cloud via http://portal.classvr.com/connect/player/ (drag and drop the content from your PC into the browser window).
            4. Once uploaded, drag the content from the library into the left hand side playlist and send it to the selected devices.
            5. Enjoy and immerse your users in your homemade content!
You can also download content from online providers. Make sure you have permission to do this.

My video looks very strange on the headset. How can I fix this?

Sometimes, videos need extra tagging to appear correctly in the headsets. If your video looks like a jigsaw puzzle or is split in half, you may need to follow these steps:
            1. Find the thumbnail for your video in My Cloud or Shared Cloud.
            2. Right-click it to open the tagging options.
            3. If your video appears split on the screen, try tagging with the Stereo (Top-Bottom) tag.
            4. If your video appears cut into piece and rearranged like a jigsaw puzzle, try tagging with the Cubemap tag.
            5. Once you've applied your tags, drag the thumbnail over to the playlist and send to your headset again to test it.

How do I share the content with others in my organisation and beyond?

In your organisation: If you wish to share the content with other members of staff, then you can import the file into the "Shared Cloud" and then all other users with the appropriate permissions can access this content and share it.

Beyond your organisation: You could choose to publish non-confidential content with other ClassVR users from around the world, by adding your content to “Community”.

What if I no longer want my content on the portal?

Simply right click on the content you no longer want to have on your Cloud, Shared Cloud or in the ClassVR Community and select “Delete”. The same principle applies to any playlists you wish to delete.
