Getting Started

What is Class VR?

ClassVR is an online resource coupled with state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets that enable cutting-edge and immersive educational experiences directly into the classroom.

Note: A Wi-Fi connection and internet enabled computer will be required for the initial setup and ability to upload content.

What You Get
  • VR headsets*
  • Charging case/Trolley*
  • Lens cleaning cloth
  • Hand controllers

* Either 4, 8 or 30 headsets and applicable charging case/trolley depending on the package purchased.

Setting up your VR headsets

Start by ensuring that your headsets are charged. You can do this by plugging them into an available charging cable in the case, or by connecting them to a USB-C cable from a wall plug socket.

Please note that the charging case will need to be plugged into an electrical outlet in order to charge the headsets. If you have any queries or issues with charging the headsets, then please refer to the Knowledge base.

The indicator LED next to the USB-C port will indicate the charge status:

  • Red = Charging, but very low battery.
  • Yellow = Charging.
  • Green = Fully charged.

Further information on charging and storage for your specific model can be found here:

Fitting and adjusting the headsets

The lenses on the VR headsets do not require any adjustment. Adjust the head straps so that the images through the lenses are clear and sharp, and the fit is comfortable. There are hook and loop fasteners on both side straps as well as the top strap on the headset. If the student is wearing glasses, the headset should fit over these with little to no modification to the lenses or the face padding.

Setting up the hand controller

The included hand-held controller can be used for navigating menus and moving around in the virtual environments. This controller is connected by plugging it into the USB-C port on the headset. No further setup is required as the headset should detect the controller automatically.

For further information on using the hand controller, please refer to this article: Teleporting and rotating on the ClassVR headset

Using the VR headsets

The headsets come with some pre-loaded software so that the VR headsets can be used independently. However, to get the most out of the headsets they should be connected and enrolled with the ClassVR portal.

The VR headsets do not need to be physically connected to a computer to work – they are used exclusively over a Wi-Fi network.

Accessing the ClassVR Portal Interface

Once you have signed up or been invited to ClassVR, you should receive an invitation email with a link to the ClassVR content portal.

Once you have chosen your password and accepted the end user license agreement, you will be directed to the ClassVR portal interface.

Please note that you will also need to have a valid subscription. If you do not have a subscription set up, you can find more information on how to do this here.

Note: In order to access the ClassVR portal interface in the future, please bookmark portal.classvr.com in your internet browser.

Connecting and enrolling the VR headsets with ClassVR

Access the ClassVR online resource at portal.classvr.com and sign in with the email address that you have been registered with. Once there, click on the Settings icon in the top-right of the webpage.

To connect the headset to your Wi-Fi network, click on Connect Device. Enter your Wi-Fi SSID Name and password. Once you have done this, scan the displayed QR code with the headset’s Scanner utility.

Note: If you do not have this information, please speak to your IT provider/System Administrator.

To enroll a device, click on Enroll Device, and again scan the QR code that is displayed.

The VR headset should now appear in the Devices list in the Deliver screen.

Uploading content to the headsets using ClassVR

Now that the headsets are connected to your network and enrolled in ClassVR, you can start adding content. In order to do this, click on the Plan section of the ClassVR portal. Using the Libraries on the right-hand side of the interface.

Simply drag the content that you would like to display in the headsets over to the Playlist on the left-hand side of the interface and click the Send icon.

Once the progress bars for uploading the content on the Deliver screen has completed for each ClassVR headset, you and your class should then be able to dive in and enjoy the experience.

That’s it! If you would like to know more about lesson planning, uploading content or further functionality (such as the AR cubes) then please contact us regarding CPD training.
