It is possible to add your own apps and resources to the ClassVR headsets. You will need to ensure that you have:

  • The APK file of the app that you would like to install. (You can usually download APKs from a repository website if you do not have it already)
  • The package name. (You should be able to find this in the URL of the APK that you are downloading – for example com.google.android.youtube)

Once you have this, log into the ClassVR Portal and click on the 'Settings' icon in the top-right corner.

  • Under your organisation, click on 'Administration Portal'.
  • Once in the Administration Portal, click on 'Resources' in the left panel.
  • Click 'Add New Resource' on the right.
  • Enter the name of the app, and select 'Application' from the drop-down menu, then click 'Add Resource'.
  • On the following screen, add in the 'package name'.
  • Click 'Android Binary Files' > 'Upload New Binary'.
  • Click Choose file and navigate to the location where the APK is stored. Click Open and then Upload.
  • Once the file has uploaded, click 'Android Package Versions' > 'Add New Package'.
  • Click 'unset' under APK File, and then click the drop-down arrow. Select your app from the list.
  • You can add the app to a playlist if required by clicking 'Add to Playlist' in the Actions panel at the top-right.

Further Troubleshooting

  • The app will not open.
    • Ensure that the file used is a genuine APK file.
    • Check to see if there is a newer/more compatible version.
    • Try downloading/re-uploading the app again.
    • Make sure the app came from a reputable source.
  • The app is not working as expected.
    • Check to make sure that the app is compatible with your ClassVR headsets.
    • Try uploading the app to a different device.
  • The app is blurry or does not fit the screen correctly.
    • Ensure that the app can support the screen size/resolution of your ClassVR headsets.
