Locking and unlocking LearnPad

LearnPad is designed to be used by students in locked mode. When LearnPad is locked, students may only access the contents of the current Lesson and Toolbox, and cannot access the Device Settings.

LearnPad can be unlocked as a teacher or as an administrator.

  • When LearnPad is unlocked for teacher use, the Teacher menu and Device Settings become available.
  • When LearnPad is unlocked for administrator use, the Teacher menu and Device Settings become available, as well as the stock Android interface.

If the padlock on the LearnPad toolbar is open, LearnPad is unlocked. If the padlock on the LearnPad toolbar is closed, LearnPad is locked.

Locking and Unlocking LearnPad

LearnPad can be unlocked manually or by using a QrKey.

Unlocking LearnPad manually

To unlock LearnPad manually:

  1. From the LearnPad toolbar, tap the padlock.
  2. Enter the unlock password and tap Unlock. The default teacher password is 101Teacher and the default administrator password is 101SuperAdmin.

Unlocking LearnPad with a QrKey

  1. From the LearnPad toolbar, tap the QrKey Scanner button.
  2. Point your LearnPad’s camera at the QrKey. You’ll hear a beep. LearnPad will unlock.

Accessing the stock Android interface

If you have unlocked your LearnPads as the administrator, to access the stock Android interface:

  1. From the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, tap the Home button and choose Launcher or Google Now Launcher and select Just once.
  2. Once you have finished in the stock Android interface, from the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, tap the Home button and choose LearnPad and Just once.

Setting your own passwords

To change the passwords that you use to unlock your LearnPads:

1. Log into the ClassConnect Portal (https://connect.learnpad.com/).
2. From the left-hand menu, beneath the ADMIN heading, click Passwords.

3. From the Actions box in the top-right of the page, click Add New Device Password.

4. Complete the required fields and click the Add Password button:

  • Name (enter a name, for reference – you might choose the name of the teacher that the password is for, or simply use the name 'Staff' if the password is to be used by all staff)
  • Password (enter a secure password)
  • Type (select Teacher or Admin as appropriate)

Once you have added your own passwords, the default passwords no longer work. If you delete the passwords you have created, the defaults will once again apply.

Printing unlock QrKeys

To print your unlock QrKeys:

1. Log into the ClassConnect Portal (https://connect.learnpad.com/).
2. From the LearnPad Shortcuts, click Create QrKeys.

3. Click Login.

4. From the Actions box in the top-right, click Activate Print Mode.
5. To make the QrKeys bigger or smaller respectively, from the box in the top-right of the page, click Bigger or Smaller.
6. To print your QrKeys, from the box in the top-right of the page, click Print Now.
